Wellbeing with Activities

Success is the sum for small efforts

Activities and interaction with our ladies and geneltmen is an area of exceptional importance, particularly during the times that families are not able to pop in and out of the home to visit. It does not really how big or small an activity session is, when you have provided someone with your time and encouragement to achieve small things, you are rewarded with big smiles and happy residents.

Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try

It is not always an easy role to encourage older people to join in or give things a go. It is very much dependent on personal choice on the day, however those ladies and gents who do join in with everything, also provide entertainment for those who would prefer to observe which enhances the environment for them in a positive way. There are those who prefer to stay in their rooms and as a way of wellbeing with their activity we offer one to one games, such as Scrabble, or general chit chats are always a great way of gaining insight into other activities of interest that they may wish to take part in.

Social stimulation improves all of our wellbeing, particularly those with dementia

We have singers who attend the home and provides us with a great selection of reminiscent songs (that are sang in tune by him! less so by us!). We are reassured that LFD’s are still performed by those entering the home. Over the Summer residents were taken out to town or up to the park, given the cooler climate now, those achievements are a bit hindered by the weather and the participation is a little less. We will get our thinking hats on for the Winter season and welcome any offers of those who have small animals to bring in or are able to play an instrument. We have the Museum of Wales visiting soon and a lady from Big Pit.
